What’s in a Name? “North American Success,” Says UNIT4 Agresso
Most companies will go to great extents to revamp their images, and UNIT4 Agresso is most certainly one of those companies. Earlier this month, they announced they had completed a company name change in the US: they went from Agresso North America to UNIT4 Business Software. The change stems from a decision to rally under the UNIT4 name (and its eponymous European parent company) as a means of company growth.
UNIT4 isn’t totally wiping the slate clean, though—their flagship ERP platform, Agresso Business World, will keep its name. But while the moniker stays the same, it’s likely Agresso Business World will soon be offered as both on-premise and SaaS models—without explicitly indicating new deployment models are coming, the press release announcing the completed name change notes that studies have shown that keeping “rigid†ERP systems up-to-date can be very costly.
The Agresso Business World feature they’re focusing on for now: the platform’s “post-implementation agility,†which allows business users to make changes to the ERP system very easily (without IT assistance).
We’re certainly curious to see if this name change has the desired effect. In America, “UNIT4 Agresso†wasn’t exactly an esoteric name devoid of ERP implications, so it will be interesting indeed if renaming the North American branch is a true game-changer.
