IBM Netfinity and NUMA-Q Servers Provide Infrastructure for Innovative e-Tail Portal
PORTLAND, Ore (November 08, 1999) – Youremarket.com will launch an innovative e-commerce “community” portal in mid-November, powered by IBM Netfinity® and NUMA-Q® servers.
Youremarket.com extends the reach of regional retail stores and other vendors by connecting them with consumers over the Web. The e-commerce portal is customized to serve specific communities with one-stop shopping and provides national and international reach for unique offerings and regional products. According to Youremarket.com, the company plans to serve 20 cities by the end of this year and will expand to more than 200 cities in the year 2000.
“We anticipate rapid growth with Youremarket.com, as consumers move in increasing numbers to the Internet for products and services,” said Jim Soldani, CEO Youremarket.com. “IBM NUMA-Q and Netfinity are an ideal match, providing our customers enormous flexibility, scalability and industry leading high availability on the price performant Intel platform.”
Netfinity and NUMA-Q server lines together provide scalability from one to 64 Intel processors. Youremarket.com is running Windows NT-based front-office and Web applications on Netfinity servers with Informix database and transactional processes on the NUMA-Q servers.
“There is tremendous synergy between price/performance leading Netfinity servers in the application layer and highly scalable NUMA-Q servers as the database engine. Youremarket.com is a prime example of how an e-commerce company can take advantage of IBM’s Intel server line for a complete platform solution,” said Jeff Pancottine, vice president of worldwide marketing for IBM, NUMA-Q brand.
