Barcelona, Spain and Chennai, India (February 15, 2010) – Openbravo, the leading developer of web-based open source enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for businesses, has announced a series of successes as it gains momentum and traction in the Indian marketplace. Key achievements to date include an impressive growing partner community, new users selecting and deploying the Openbravo ERP platform every day and greater use of community resources.

An important milestone has been the opening of a new development center located in Chennai, India in January 2009. After more than 12 months of operation, the local staff now functions as peers to the existing center in Spain, and focuses on product development tasks such as new features advancement, quality assurance and release management. The decision to open a center in India was made in response to the interest that Openbravo generates in India and reflects its commitment towards the Indian market.

The number of Openbravo deployments continues to increase as Indian companies realize the benefits of Openbravo ERP’s broad functionality, plus its ability to drive business performance and to scale from a single instance to multiple tenants across departments, organizations and geographies.

Manel Sarasa, CEO of Openbravo, said: “The Indian market is ideal for Openbravo because there is tremendous need for technology to help an increasing volume and breadth of growing industries manage their businesses more effectively. We have seen a huge demand for Openbravo software, and we are committed to this exciting and growing market. Our development center is available for the many talented IT experts in the country, and we look forward to further demonstrating the benefits of open source ERP with our new and fast-growing Indian community.”

One important new customer in the region is Tuff Tubes, a plastics and rubber manufacturer based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Dibakar Chakraborty, VP of Tuff Tubes said: “We evaluated Microsoft Dynamics and SAP, but then selected Openbravo ERP Professional Subscription solution because of its flexibility and user friendliness. With a true-web-based open architecture, it will ensure a consistent and productive end user experience across our organization. Openbravo partner Starlite worked closely with us as valued and knowledgeable consultants, and we look forward to gaining the business performance benefits of Openbravo ERP.”

Openbravo’s rich functional footprint puts businesses in control of back-end processes with integrated accounting, production, inventory, procurement and sales. With the recent launch of Openbravo Exchange, its global online marketplace for commercial open source ERP solutions and extensions, Openbravo continues to improve the adaptability of its solution to meet the requirements of individual businesses. Openbravo Exchange strengthens Openbravo’s community by ensuring continual innovation and an ever-growing range of third-party modules for industry verticals with best-fit implementation.

As a result of the increased profile and interest Openbravo has attracted with users and partners in India, it conducted three successful training conventions in 2009. Along with highlighting business applications, Openbravo introduced its products to the Indian government through a session designed to showcase Openbravo’s application in e-governance projects, such as for managing complex budget decisions and keeping track of inventory.
