OAO Corporation Awards Desktop Outsourcing Subcontract to IBM for the NASA Office of Space Flight Enterprise

Somers, N.Y (November 10, 1998) – IBM today announced that it has been awarded a subcontract by OAO Corporation to provide desktop support services for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). IBM Global Services will participate in an alliance to provide PC desktop computing, server, and communications services to NASA on a monthly fixed-price ‘per seat’ basis. The awarded value to OAO of the delivery orders, encompassing over 25,000 seats, is $154.9 million for three years, with a nine-year potential of over $500 million. IBM’s contract is valued at approximately $55 million over three years.
Services will be performed under the Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA (ODIN) to NASA’s Office of Space Flight (OSF) Enterprise. IBM Global Services will provide remote management services, including help desk and first level system administration support for desktops located at the Four NASA OSF Enterprise Centers — Kennedy Space Center, Florida; Johnson Space Center, Texas; Stennis Space Center, Mississippi; and Marshall Space Flight Center, Alabama.
