IBM Netfinity 7000 M10 Fastest Intel Server for J.D. Edwards’ OneWorld

Somers, NY (October 13, 1998) – IBM today announced that it’s flagship high-end application server, the IBM Netfinity* 7000 M10, outperformed all other Intel-processor based servers currently tested for J.D. Edwards’ network-centric, ERP application, OneWorld** running Windows NT, by achieving response times of approximately one third of a second for 1000 users.
The IBM Netfinity 7000M10, announced in September 1998, achieved faster response times running Oracle RDBMS for both 1000 and 1500 user groups than any other Intel server currently benchmarked for J.D. Edwards OneWorld.
The Netfinity 7000M10 significantly outperformed Compaq’s Intel and Alpha servers and also shattered Hewlett Packard’s HP 9000 UNIX server performance results published in September. At 1400 users, the Netfinity 7000M10 4-way Pentium II Xeon*** model was 40% faster than the HP K580 6-way, 64-bit 240MHz PA8200 server configuration.
The performance tests were conducted as part of J.D. Edwards’ “Workload Scaling Performance Test Series One” program, under which the same physical environment, simulated workloads, database environment and test procedures are used for each hardware platform tested.
IBM and J.D. Edwards have been partners for over twenty years. Thousands of customers in more than 90 countries have chosen J.D. Edwards on IBM servers, making IBM J.D. Edwards’ most widely partnered hardware vendor. The strength of this relationship is underscored by the benchmark performances achieved by IBM’s J.D. Edwards International Competency Center in Denver, Colorado, and validated by J.D. Edwards Performance
Characterization lab.
