IBM Introduces New Capabilities For Its Global Integrated Human Resources Management Solution

HR Access Provides Comprehensive, Fully-Integrated, Web-Enabled HR Management

NASHVILLE, Tenn (May 20, 1998) – – IBM today announced that it has significantly enhanced the capabilities of HR Access, a flexible software solution designed specifically for multi-national organizations to manage their global HR requirements and expand the role of human resources as a strategic contributor to their overall success.
The new HR Access features unveiled at the International Association for Human Resource Information Management’s (IHRIM) 1998 Spring Conference & EXPO include a new benefits offering, enhanced training and recruitment capabilities, and the International Payroll System environment. Delivered by IBM Global Services, HR Access adapts to the diverse human resources procedures that exist from country to country.
Fully-integrated with Lotus Domino, HR Access makes information and processes available to managers, HR staff and company employees via any Web browser. HR Access is designed to increase productivity, decrease administrative costs and distribute HR information across the enterprise.
HR Access Advantages
HR Access streamlines the function of a business’ human resources department by giving employees the option of checking on their remaining holiday or vacation days, submitting a request for absenteeism, or enrolling for training sessions, while providing security to prevent unauthorized access to personnel records.
From any Web browser, employees can access templates for workflow updates, notification and approval processes, which includes personal information updates, performance and peer reviews, as well as training requests. Enterprise-wide information such as the employee handbook, job vacancies and other pertinent company information can also be accessed by employees.
“HR Access addresses an issue that many companies lose sight of — that a business won’t work without its employees,” said Francois Vettes, Worldwide Product Manager, IBM HR Access. “Bringing human resources information directly through the enterprise and to the employee gives instant access to information that employees may otherwise find difficult to obtain.”
Enhanced Capabilities
Designed to accommodate the continual changes in benefits information within an organization, the new HR Access Benefits module is used to easily consolidate and analyze benefits data for planning, implementing and tracking corporate initiatives. The software also can be used to keep track of diverse benefits plans and analyze current and potential benefits offerings.
HR Access has enhanced the capabilities of the training and recruitment applications in the Strategic Human Resources (SHR) module. HR Access Training allows organizations to build, maintain, and manage training programs, ensuring that its employee’s skills and competencies keep pace with today’s changing environments. HR Access Recruitment gives organizations the ability to accurately and efficiently find the right people for a job, giving the organization immediate information about any job openings and the processes that must be followed to fill them.
Global Capabilities
The International Payroll System (IPS) module offers a powerful international payroll environment for processing an organization’s international payroll while keeping pace with changing regulatory and statutory requirements. This enables an organization to process their payroll on a local or global level with functionality including payment calculation, check printing, distribution and financial systems integration.
With HR Access’ Worldwide Information Model (WIM), customers can apply information required for managing human resources internationally, while also integrating the country-specific information necessary for administering payroll and personnel on a local level. WIM is HR Access’ sole information access model providing consistency in enabling consolidation across the enterprise.
“HR Access is the best solution for giving us the ability to manage our human resources from a worldwide perspective, and the new capabilities extend that leadership,” said Denise Hart, principal and HR Access project implementation manager at American Management Systems. “HR Access has allowed us to implement a strategic, integrated approach to human resource management while reducing the number of time-consuming, paper-based tasks.”
Available immediately, HR Access is offered with a comprehensive set of support services to assist organizations in the implementation, including business transformation services; systems integration and implementation; managed operations; education and training; and network services.
HR Access, with over 1,100 customers in 34 countries, and more than 1,000 professional support staff worldwide, is the first truly global system for strategic human resource management, payroll and benefits. HR Access enables international companies to more effectively manage their workforces, through a single worldwide information database that provides an integrated solution for human resources, run-once global payroll, and benefits.
