IBM Introduces Family of PC Products for e-business
New “e-business Tools” Designed To Help Customers Start Simple, Grow Fast
NEW YORK (April 15, 1998) – – IBM today introduced a broad range of “e-business tools” designed to help small businesses to large enterprises use the Internet and networked personal systems to gain a competitive advantage.
The new tools cover the entire family of personal systems products, including Netfinity servers, Intellistation professional workstations, PC 300 desktop computers, ThinkPad notebooks, PC monitors, networking hardware and storage solutions. These new e-business tools leverage industry-leading systems management technologies as well as IBM Universal Management — a new suite of offerings designed to further lower the total cost of ownership.
Furthering its commitment to e-business, IBM also launched a redesigned web site, that allows customers to purchase these and other products via the Internet. These products and initiatives are being supported by an aggressive, worldwide advertising campaign under the theme “e-business tools.”
“IBM’s new e-business tools provide the latest in technology and network manageability benefits, all at highly competitive prices,” said David Thomas, senior vice president and group executive. “For customers it means improved productivity, faster time to market, reduced cost of doing business, and closer links to their own customers. Only IBM has the know-how to deliver e-tools that leverage IBM’s leadership in e-business infrastructure, applications, e-commerce and services.”
