IBM Introduces Comprehensive High Availability Services For RS/6000 Servers
Tailored services offerings to improve systems availability on critical RS/6000 servers
Somers, NY (October 06, 1998) – IBM today announced a comprehensive portfolio of high availability services for RS/6000 servers to help customers improve their system availability, maximize performance and help avoid system outages.
IBM High Availability Services for RS/6000 Servers are offered in two phases: a full availability assessment of the customer’s system and recommendation plan for helping ensure system availability; and a high availability services package customizable to meet the customer’s systems needs.
“Many of our customers today require continual operation of their systems to maintain business productivity,” said Joe Sindelar, vice president of marketing, Product Support Services, IBM Global Services. “And with the uniqueness of one customer’s system over another, we’ve designed a high availability services solution that can be tailored to address a customer’s specific system requirements.”
IBM’s high availability assessment includes a thorough review of a customer’s IT systems, processes and procedures. IBM identifies areas that need improvement to help ensure minimal system downtime and maximum performance. IBM will recommend a solution tailored to address these exposures to help improve the availability of the customer’s RS/6000 systems. The solution also is designed to help minimize and prevent outages.
IBM’s high availability services package for RS/6000 servers includes a combination of hardware maintenance and software technical support; systems and networking management services, site and connectivity services, business recovery services and on-site product support services.
