IBM and PeopleSoft Announce Human Resources and Payroll Solution
Integrated Offering Aimed at International Marketplace
Somers, NY & Pleasanton, CA (December 14, 1998) – IBM and PeopleSoft, Inc., today announced an alliance to integrate PeopleSoft’s world-class Human Resources software product with IBM’s HR Access International Payroll module. PeopleSoft and IBM will deliver an integrated solution that allows multinational organizations to more strategically manage their global payroll and human resources functions.
The alliance will give customers an expanded network of consulting services and functionality that addresses the most challenging demands of operating across borders, including multiple language and currency complexities and local regulatory and statutory requirements, such as euro compliance. The product will be available in France and the United Kingdom by the beginning of the third quarter of 1999, with deployment in other regions shortly thereafter.
“This announcement is especially good news for large multinationals,” said Howard Gwin, general manager of International Operations at PeopleSoft. “Together, PeopleSoft and IBM offer extensive worldwide coverage and a superior integrated human resources solution backed by a robust global services infrastructure.”
Customers will also benefit from the worldwide consulting services of IBM Global Services. More than 1,000 HR Access service consultants are dedicated to providing expertise to ensure smooth implementation of the solution. IBM HR Access also brings an installed base of more than 1,000 customers.
“There is a great need in the international marketplace for this integrated solution created by recognized leaders in the human resources and international payroll arenas,” said Jose Chavez, sales manager, HR Access Business Unit, Jean-Marc Lazzari, World-Wide Director, HR Access, IBM Global Services. The alliance will initially target Europe before rolling out to other global regions.
IBM’s HR Access International Payroll solution is the first truly global system for strategic payroll, enabling an organization to conduct payment calculation, check printing, and distribution all through a payroll engine that is supported by a complete set of country-specific or business-specific parameters. HR Access Payroll provides consistent information throughout an organization and brings cost efficiency to all payroll operations. On an international level, HR Access Payroll easily consolidates data from different countries for an accurate view of a company’s workforce, production of worldwide payroll statistics in one currency for reporting purposes, or payroll simulation and budget forecasting at a corporate level.
PeopleSoft has been a leading HR software provider for more than a decade. Its Human Resources Management System is a modular, global solution that enables executives to manage positions and compensation; recruit, hire, and train employees; track international assignments; promote, allocate, and retire personnel; comply with local and international regulatory requirements; and give multinational users access to information while keeping sensitive data secure. Because the system is fully integrated, all employee information is immediately accessible.
The IBM alliance builds upon additional global functionality incorporated into PeopleSoft 7.5, launched in March 1998. The 7.5 release added multinational support for Belgium, the Netherlands, and Japan. It also expanded the global and local functionality of PeopleSoft Human Resources for companies doing business in Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, and the United States. The new functionality includes diversity tracking, preferred language tracking, and multi-lingual reporting capabilities.
