COMPIERE FOUNDER AND CEO JORG JANKE TO SPEAK ON “BUILDING SUCCESSFUL COMMERCIAL OPEN SOURCE PROJECTS” AT OSCON 2006
Santa Clara, Calif. (July 24, 2006) – Compiere, Inc., the premier provider of open source business applications, announced that founder and CEO Jorg Janke will present a session entitled “Building Successful Commercial Open Source Projects” at The Eighth Annual O’Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) being held July 24-28, 2006 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon.
Janke’s session will take place Thursday, July 27 at 11:35 a.m. in room D135 of the Oregon Convention Center. He will share with the audience how he built a leading open source project and then transformed it into a commercial success.
Jorg Janke stated, “Given the high costs and lock-in characteristics attributable to traditional proprietary enterprise resource planning vendors, I founded Compiere with the goal of providing midsize businesses with a more flexible, extensible and cost effective ERP system. When you couple the advantages derived from Compiere’s Model Driven Architecture, with the benefits associated with the use of the open source business model, I believe that Compiere has met its objectives. Today, Compiere is implemented by nearly 100 partners worldwide.”
As the driving force behind Compiere’s success, Janke has more than 25 years of combined business and technical experience. Under his leadership, Compiere, Inc. provides stewardship, development, support and training for the Compiere product as a key part of the overall support provided by Compiere’s eco-system.
Before founding Compiere, Janke was Director Enterprise Systems in Oracle’s Application Development Division in Redwood Shores, Calif. and Manager Business Applications at the European headquarters of Unisys in London. He holds a German BA in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom.
Held annually, OSCON is where early adopters, developers, expert users, system administrators, entrepreneurs and business people working in free and open source software gather to share ideas, discover code and find solutions.
