Lotus Synchs Notes E-Mail with 3Com PalmPilot Organizer and IBM WorkPad PC Companion
World’s Messaging Leader Extends Access to Leading Handheld Computing Products
CAMBRIDGE, Mass (February 17, 1998) – Lotus Development Corp. today announced the immediate availability of EasySync Release 2 for Lotus Notes, software designed to enable bi-directional information synchronization between Lotus Notes and Organizer and the IBM WorkPad PC companion or the 3Com PalmPilot connected organizer. Available from the Lotus Web site today, at www.lotus.com/calendar, EasySync Release 2 allows millions of Lotus Notes and Organizer users to now manage their Notes e-mail in addition to their schedules, contacts, tasks and personal journal information in the office, at home and on the road using the PalmPilot connected organizer or IBM WorkPad PC companion.
“Continual access to critical information has become a necessity in today’s business world,” said Jim Burnham, director of marketing, Lotus Calendaring & Scheduling. “By enabling complete sharing and synchronization of mail, calendar, tasks, and contacts between Lotus Notes, the 3Com PalmPilot or the IBM WorkPad, our customers can always have immediate access to critical information about their work day even when they are away from their PCs.”
Originally introduced in December, EasySync resides on the PC and allows PalmPilot connected organizer and WorkPad PC companion users to exchange Calendar, To-Do, Address Book and personal journal information between their handheld devices and Lotus Notes and Organizer. The new release of EasySync adds the ability to synchronize the Notes Mail in-box, enabling users to read, reply, forward, delete and create new mail messages from the PalmPilot or WorkPad handheld devices. EasySync 2 also enables users to select which sections are synchronized, and supports customers using Organizer 97 GS with Lotus Notes.
“Compatibility with Lotus Notes is an important attribute for our enterprise customers,” said Mark Bercow, vice president of strategic alliances and platform development for Palm Computing, a 3Com company. “With Lotus EasySync for the Palm Computing platform, mobile professionals have a great way to access and manage their important business messages from anywhere, at anytime.”
