NTT Group to Provide International Date Transmission Service With IBM Corporation
N/A
TOKYO (June 22, 1998) – NTT Worldwide Telecommunications Corporation (NTT-WT), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT, and IBM Corporation today announced an agreement to provide international data transmission network services by connecting NTT-WT’s international data transmission service, Arcstar frame relay network, with the frame relay-based services of IBM Global Services.
Since last September, NTT-WT and overseas subsidiaries of the NTT group have provided to nine countries the Arcstar managed frame relay service, a high-quality, high-reliability network service. The group has done this in order to address increasing corporate globalization and the transcendence of national borders. IBM Global Services, through the IBM Global Network, has one of the world’s largest data networks and offers frame relay-based services in 46 countries.
With this agreement, NTT-WT and overseas subsidiaries of the NTT group will expand the service area of the Arcstar managed frame relay service to 46 countries by means of the IBM Global Network. This will improve customer convenience, as well as enable higher-quality and higher-reliability managed frame relay services to globally active corporate users. Futhermore, IBM will be able to expand its delivery of frame relay-based services of IBM Global Network.
Services start this July.
