IBM Announces Recovery Support Services for e-business
New Solutions Help Companies Eliminate Interruptions in Internet Services
Atlanta (Networld+Interop (October 21, 1998) – IBM today announced IBM Recovery Support Services for e-business, a new offering portfolio designed to protect and recover mission critical Internet-based applications from unplanned information technology infrastructure outages.
Leveraging proven consulting services designed to help businesses understand the appropriate level of protection and leading edge technologies specific to the recovery process, this offering portfolio provides businesses with a maximum level of protection for their e-business applications and data.

The IBM Recovery Support Services for e-business portfolio is comprised of five components:
Business Recovery Consulting — conducts business impact analysis, environmental analysis, and recovery plan development, these consulting services help customers determine the appropriate level of protection for their e-business applications.
Internet Access and Traffic Redirection — offers high speed connectivity to the Internet with multiple techniques for connecting users to the recovered applications. This includes managing arrangements with major Internet Service Providers to relocate customer IP addresses to the IBM Recovery Center. This option provides the most efficient method for redirecting Internet traffic for publicly accessible e-business applications.
Recovery Center Services — provides a combination of equipment, facilities, and technical support needed for running a business’ IT application environment during testing of its recovery plan or while processing data during a disaster.
Rapid Recovery — allows customers to mirror their production applications and data to a remote IBM recovery location. In the event of an unplanned disruption the customer’s end-users can access and process their data with a minimum interruption.
Operational Support Services — assists in the implementation of a business recovery solution and includes:
Planning Services — to develop the procedures used in the recovery process. This includes back-up design reviews, recovery process reviews, and overall back-up and recovery strategy
Management Services – to provide on-site IT support which includes project management, change management coordination, test scheduling and post test analysis
Technical Services – to provide everything necessary to implement a business’ recovery plan. This includes structured training of recovery plans, technical support during recovery execution and test management at the IBM Recovery Center
