Paris (December 16, 1998) – .Dassault Systemes and IBM today announced their signing of an agreement with RENAULT, that makes the Dassault Systemes CATIA Solutions the French car manufacturer’s main strategic system for CAD/CAM/CAE.
Pursuant to this agreement, CATIA will be deployed on more than 1,200 seats and will be used on all RENAULT’s new car programs in conjunction with Euclid Styler and Euclid Machinist.
“RENAULT has always placed emphasis on the indispensable integration of its CAD/CAM/CAE infrastructure and on its strategic nature for the reengineering of its processes. With CATIA, RENAULT will be able to implement digital mock-up on all its future programs,” explained Mr. Detourbet, Executive Vice-President, Head of Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Division at RENAULT, in charge of CAD/CAM/CAE project.
“RENAULT’s decision is a logical evolution in our companies’ 18- month partnership and demonstrates CATIA’s technological leadership in supporting automotive industrial processes. This decision is in line with the recently announced intent of cooperation with our partner Matra Datavision,” commented Etienne Droit, Executive Vice-President Sales & Marketing, Dassault Systemes.
“The strong relationship of trust between IBM and RENAULT is reinforced daily. Our ambition is to support RENAULT in reaching its objectives, both through our services and the value added by our technical and sales network,” noted Frank Lerchenmueller, Vice-President of the World-Wide Engineering Solutions Division of IBM.
“By combining the Matra Datavision Solutions with CATIA, RENAULT will be able to optimize its processes in the areas of shape design, digital mock-up and digital manufacturing,” added Denis Senpere, Executive Vice-President, Matra Datavision.
