Openbravo launches the first edition of its Community Awards
– As its Ecosystem keeps evolving, Openbravo will be honoring the work of its most exemplary community members –
Barcelona, Spain (January 22, 2009) – Openbravo, the leading developer of web-based open source Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Point of Sale (POS) solutions for businesses, is putting forth the first edition of its Community Awards to give back to its community.
As an open source project, Openbravo has relied on contributions from community members to achieve its current success. That is why the Openbravo Community Awards were created, to recognize individuals and companies for their outstanding contributions to Openbravo’s ERP and POS projects.
There will be two types of awards, each featuring different categories. The Individual Awards will acknowledge people that have allocated time and resources to improving Openbravo projects, while the Technology Awards will recognize outstanding projects led by any company or organization built on top of Openbravo technology.
Openbravo plans to further stimulate contributions in this last category with its product Openbravo ERP 2.50. This latest version, featuring modularity, will allow community members to build on top of the product’s core with more ease.
Openbravo’s Community Development Director, Jordi Mas, said “Now that Openbravo’s projects have gained traction and that our Ecosystem is gaining maturity, it made sense to create these Awards in conjunction with our global community event – The Openbravo World Conference. This gives us the opportunity to give back to the most active contributors who are developing notoriety among the rest of the community.”
The winners will be awarded during the last day of the Openbravo World Conference, taking place Sunday 19th April, 2009. For the occasion, an award certificate will be given to all the winners.
The nomination of candidates will open on March 2nd, 2009. The details concerning the voting process will be up at the following website page leading up to March:
